Redefine Disability Services was born from a place of deep care, lived experience, and a passion for health and wellbeing. It was also thanks to the love and support of a Mother and her special son. 

While working in the disability sector, Founders Simon and Alex met a young man with highly complex needs. He faced significant challenges, including aggressive behaviours, self-harm, and property damage. Supporting him wasn’t easy but they genuinely cared and believed in his potential.

Sharing a passion for health and fitness with their backgrounds in Muay Thai and personal training, Alex and Simon began taking this young man to the gym. At first, there was resistance. The environment was new, the routine unfamiliar, but they stayed consistent and focused on building trust.

Over time things began to change. The young man became more open to the experience, developed a routine, and started to enjoy the sessions. Gradually, his behaviours of concern began to reduce. He seemed more balanced, happier, and better able to regulate his emotions.

His mother saw this transformation and the family level of care Simon and Alex gave. She knew they were filling a real gap in the disability sector, especially for those who struggled to access mainstream fitness or wellness programs in a safe, supportive way.

With a Mother’s encouragement, Redefine Disability Services began. This incredible family still inspire us and others as ongoing members of Redefine Disability Services community. 

We pride ourselves on fostering long term relationships with clients and their families and understand this means adapting to individual needs and personalities. Our flexibility has led to an expanded service offering which now includes personal training, exercise physiology, day programs and supported independent living.
